Well, I am going to try to have one new technique or tip every Thursday and/or Friday.  Sew….I decided to try “snow dyeing’ some fabric.  Right, Houston has so much snow!  OK, well, ice from the grocery store might work, don’t ya all think??? So, here I go.  I cut 5 one yard pieces from a Prepared For Dyeing Fabric and soaked them in Soda Ash for about 15 minutes.  Then I folded one piece in quarters and pleated it.  The second piece I wrapped with rubber bands.  Both of those pieces I placed in the bottom of my large dyeing container.  By bracing it on small bottles, I floated a grid on top and placed three more pieces of treated fabric on the top.  Then I took about 5 colors of dye – still in powder form – and carefully sprinkled the colors over the top of the entire container.  THEN…..ta da….I covered the whole thing with 20 lbs. of cubed ice,  covered it all with some plastic wrap, and plan to check it around 24 hours from now.  So, we shall see how “Houston’s” version of snow dyeing works.  I have included a gallery of pictures showing the process.  Enjoy.  Until tomorrow…BE HAPPY!
